Jack Prelutsky - Child's Poem Writer

 

    BIRTH: Sept 8, 1940 in Brooklyn , New York

        My favorite things to read when I was little was about King Arthur and Robin Hood

•  My Influences to make me become a poet

  • I was 24 when i started getting interested in poetry
  • I use to draw imaginary animals and one evening i decided to write a poem to each one
  • Friends incouraged me to go and show my work to an editor and when I did, I was amazed to find that the editor whos  name was Susan Hirschman, thought I had a talent for writing
  •  She published my first book and 30 years later she still is my editor

    My work is mostly done at my studio in my house. I use toys and refrences books to help create the poems I write. 

    Where I get most of my ideas is everything I see. Many toys in my studio have help create some of my             greatest poems.
